Jabrill Peppers is back in the NFL.
The Pittsburgh Steelers agreed to terms with the veteran safety on Tuesday, according to Mike DeFabo of The Athletic.
Peppers, 29, was shockingly released by the New England Patriots on Aug. 29, being given the heave-ho just one season after being named captain and several weeks after falling out of the starting rotation.
Peppers made comments seemingly pointed at his now-former head coach Mike Vrabel in the aftermath, but has largely been silent awaiting his next opportunity — which comes with a team that has been busy filling out their roster with veterans.
The Steelers need some help at the position following an injury to DeShon Elliott, and will add Peppers to an all-star cast of veteran additions made this offseason — including the likes of quarterback Aaron Rodgers, wide receiver DK Metcalf, tight end Jonnu Smith and cornerback Jalen Ramsey.
Pittsburgh was happy with how that group looked in a victory over the New York Jets in Week 1.
The Patriots won’t have to wait long to welcome back their former captain, as the Steelers visit Gillette Stadium in Week 3.
