Behind the Steel Curtain
The Steelers sit in first place in the AFC North after a gutsy win in Baltimore last weekend over the Ravens. With their playoff destiny firmly in their own hands, the question that remains is, can this be the year the Steelers finally break their playoff win drought? Despite frustrations from fans on display over the last few weeks, the Steelers may have an opportunity to put those frustrations to rest.
Former All-Pro defensive back Jalen Ramsey was asked about what it takes to win in the playoffs, given the frustrations from fans stem from no playoff wins since the 2016 season, and the chants calling for the firing of his head coach Mike Tomlin during the team’s last home game against the Buffalo Bills.
“Me, personally, I thought the chants were bullshit,” he told the press Saturday. “It’s comical.”
Despite all of the storylines and frustrations around the team, Ramsey is backing his coach. After his quote about the chants being comical, Ramsey seemed to shake his head, stopping himself from saying more. Ramsey admitted it is tough to win in the playoffs, citing that in his 10 years in the league, he has only won playoff games in two seasons.
Jalen Ramsey has been as good as advertised for the Pittsburgh Steelers this season. Ramsey was acquired in a deal that sent the corner and tight end Jonnu Smith to Pittsburgh in exchange for safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, with the teams swapping late-round picks.
Ramsey has been one of the Steelers’ best outside corners, as well as arguably the team’s best safety, a position he has not played consistently since his college days at Florida State.
