Silver And Black Pride
The 2026 NFL head-coaching cycle change suddenly during the week when the Baltimore Ravens suddenly fired longtime coach John Harbaugh.
Reportedly, almost immediately, every team with an opening reached out to Harbaugh and even some with a standing coached reached out as well. It became quickly apparent that Harbaugh would be a wildly popular candidate.
Yet, so far, Harbaugh hasnβt been one of the five reported coaches the Raiders have setup interviews with.
A report out of Cleveland on Friday may explain why the Raiders may be reluctant to make a serious pursuit of Harbaugh. It reported his list of demands for what it would take to hire him and they are, well, steep. Check it out:
That is a ton of annual money for a head coach and his staff. It would be an especially hard pill to swallow for Raiders owner Mark Davis, wo is still paying multiple head coaches and even former assistant coaches millions of dollars a year to simply stay out of the building.
Also, it would be rough for part owner Tom Brady, who is running the search with general manager John Spytek to dump his college buddy to pave the way for Harbaugh to bring in his own guy. The Raiders were willing to do that last year for Ben Johnson and it was a big reason why Tom Telesco was fired.
But the Raiders arenβt looking for a complete resets.
So, there may be too many stumbling blocks here to make this a fit and honestly, I never thought Harbaugh was a great fit, anyway. there are are other teams, including the New York Giants and Miami Dolphins that make more sense.
Now, perhaps this report is off and maybe the two sides will, indeed, chat. Yet, if it doesnβt happen, this is a good way of understanding way.
We all know Harbaugh would be a dream hire for the Silver and Black. But do these demands change your opinion?
