Perhaps the funniest part of late-career Aaron Rodgers has been his total lack of self-awareness. Earlier this month, for example, Mark Schlereth said that Rodgers complained about the offensive scheme the Jets were running — a scheme that was installed by the offensive coordinator he hand-picked.
Or how about when the New York Jets told him they were moving in a different direction earlier this season? Aaron Rodgers complained about the fact that they had him travel cross-country just to let him go via a brief conversation.
The immediate reaction of the NFL world, however, was, “Well, Aaron, what would your reaction been if they left it to a phone call? You likely would’ve seen that as a sign of disrespect, too.”
Then there was his injury-ravaged first season with the New York Jets, where he frustratedly told the team to “get any s— that doesn’t have to do with winning out of the building”, only to be filming a Netflix documentary at that very moment.
So, while Rodgers may have a new team in the Steelers, he’s still back on his same old B.S., as he recently proclaimed that he “does not want attention” whilst appearing on the nationally-televised Pat McAfee Show, which he’ll also do weekly during the season.
“I don’t want the attention — I know that’s a narrative out there,” Rodgers said. “When this is all done, it’s Keyser Söze. You won’t see me. I won’t be in the public. I don’t want to live a public life. That’s why it’s so strange, what’s going on right now in my private life, because I don’t want to live a life in the public eye. I’m not gonna be in the public eye. When this is done, I’m done. You won’t see me, and I’m looking forward to that,” Rodgers told Mcafee.
Rodgers also told Pat McAfee this will be his final season in the NFL. And despite his claims that he’ll vanish from the spotlight, his actual history suggests we’ll hear plenty from him going forward, whether he’s in the NFL or not.
