Meghan Trainor might want to go missing for a while after Patrick Mahomes’ injury.
The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback suffered a knee injury during Sunday’s 16-13 loss against the Chargers. Shortly after, the team announced that Mahomes suffered a torn ACL.
On social media, the Chiefs quarterback said he will be “back stronger than ever.”
With the loss, the Chiefs dropped to 6-8 on the season. They were officially ruled out of playoff contention. It was the first time in the Patrick Mahomes era. Now, social media is blaming singer Meghan Trainor.
The 31-year-old singer starred in her first commercial for State Farm alongside the Chiefs quarterback. Getting to work with Mahomes was “an absolute blessing and a miracle,” she said.
That blessing has now turned into a curse.
Meghan Trainor admits she “didn’t know what to expect” prior to meeting Mahomes for their State Farm commercial. Now she is meeting the wrath of social media.
In that commercial, she could be seen holding up a leg brace. It seems to be a foreshadowing of the leg injury he would suffer months later.

Gardner Minshew will now step into the starting role for the remainder of the season. The team’s seven-year run of consecutive playoff appearances has come to an end. They also had five Super Bowl berths and three titles in the Mahomes era. It remains to be seen if it’s over.
