Intensity dialed up at Chicago Bears Rookie Minicamp

Some news and nuggets from Bears minicamp.

Yesterday was day one of rookie minicamp for the Chicago Bears, and reports were that it was a shorter and slower-paced practice. Day one is more about getting the rookies acclimated to the daily practice procedure and setting their routine, so when they come together with the full squad, everyone is on the same page.

But today, the intensity was dialed up, as evidenced by this video.

The clip* does have some naughty words in it, so if that’s not your thing, then don’t click play.

* I’m not sure what the Bears' video policy is for rookie minicamp, so if they make CHGO remove the clip at some point, it was running backs coach Eric Bieniemy coaching up the rookie backs with some adult language sprinkled in.

Here are a few quick hits from the Bears beat in attendance at the minicamp and from the post-practice press conferences.

• Ozzy Trapilo has been working at left tackle. From the clips I've seen, he looks comfortable from a lefty stance, and his pad level and hand placement are solid.
• Wideout Luther Burden III has been working from the slot.
• Defensive coordinator Dennis Allen said they’ll develop defensive linemen Shemar Turner at the two defensive tackle spots first before thinking about him off the edge.
• The starting strong side linebacker spot is wide open. Ruben Hyppolite II said he’s been learning all three linebacker spots.
• Tight end Colston Loveland isn’t cleared for practice, but he’s there and staying engaged with mental reps.
• Caleb Williams has been at the facility after hours and on his off days, getting in extra work to make sure he has the playbook down and is as ready as possible once the team comes together.
