The Cleveland Browns still have a plan for their roster following the departure of defensive end Myles Garrett.

The Cleveland Browns shocked the football world when they decided to trade away reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams. However, now many believe that could be the first domino of many to fall for Cleveland.

ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler recently put those beliefs to bed, though, stating the Browns aren’t planning to move any more of their star players, including cornerback Denzel Ward.

“Don’t sense this is a fire sale. Was told a hard no on Denzel Ward’s availability, for example,” Fowler posted on X.

That probably isn’t what the Steelers were hoping to hear as they have set their sights on finally ending their postseason win drought in 2026.

Ward, 29, has been one of the best cornerbacks in the league for some time now, recording 361 tackles, 0.5 sack, four forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries, 104 passes defensed, 18 interceptions and two touchdowns in his NFL career.

However, the departure of Garrett will certainly help those efforts, even if Ward isn’t expected to go anywhere.

Of course, that could always change, too, especially if the Browns have a less-than-desirable start to their 2026 campaign. Cleveland stated for the past couple of years that it never intended to trade away Garrett and then eventually did.

In the meantime, though, the Steelers have done their best to combat the Browns talented secondary, trading for veteran wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. and adding Alabama’s Germie Bernard in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Pittman and Bernard paired with returning wide receiver DK Metcalf and a young, ascending offensive line should help give the Steelers an upper hand in both of their meetings with Cleveland next season.
