The Philadelphia Eagles are moving on from one of their rookies, at least for now.
They’ve reportedly waived quarterback Kyle McCord in one of the most surprising moves of the final roster process.
However, according to insider Eliot Shorr-Parks, the Eagles might have some interest in bringing back McCord.
“If Howie [Roseman] is confident McCord is getting back on the practice squad then cutting him doesn’t matter much. He’ll still be in the building. But if McCord is claimed or leaves this would be a disapointing result to have given up on McCord so quickly,” Shorr-Parks wrote on X.

The Eagles selected McCord with the No. 181 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The sixth-round choice was expected to battle Dorian Thompson-Robinson for the third-string role behind Jalen Hurts and Tanner McKee.
Fast forward to today, and neither young player is on the team.
The team traded for veteran Sam Howell, and he’s expected to be Hurts’ backup while McKee recovers from a thumb injury.
McCord was a somewhat polarizing prospect leading up to the draft.
He struggled in the preseason, and it became evident that he wasn’t ready to play meaningful NFL snaps.
Yet, it’s a little early to give up on him, even if he’s never been projected to be more than a high-end backup.
That’s why other teams might want to claim him before the Eagles get a chance to bring him back, assuming they’re interested in doing so.
This is the type of roster risk a Super Bowl contender can take, and in reality, this will be Hurts’ offense for the foreseeable future.
