ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler doesn’t think the Pittsburgh Steelers are done adding following their blockbuster trade with the Miami Dolphins.
The Pittsburgh Steelers added another weapon on offense in tight end Jonnu Smith as part of their blockbuster trade with the Miami Dolphins on Monday. But ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler thinks the Steelers could still add another playmaker.
“Free agent WR Gabe Davis still an option for Steelers on offense, too,” Fowler posted on X. “He really enjoyed his visit there. Though he could take his time to sign, possibly closer to training camp.”

Pittsburgh hosted Davis on a free agent visit earlier this month, but he left without a contract. Many believe that was due to his health, though.
Davis was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars with a failed physical designation in May. He spent most of the 2024 season dealing with a knee injury that eventually caused him to have surgery and miss the final seven games of the season.
However, if the 26-year-old can get healthy sooner rather than later, it would make sense for the Steelers to sign him.
Despite the addition of Smith, Pittsburgh’s wide receiver room is still quite thin after the team traded George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys last month.
Davis would fit nicely into offensive coordinator Arthur Smith’s scheme as a big-bodied, 6-foot-3, 225-pound wide receiver. He has also been very productive, when healthy.
Before inking a three-year, $39 million free-agent deal with the Jaguars last offseason, Davis recorded 163 catches for 2,700 yards and 27 touchdowns in his four years with the Buffalo Bills.
Davis totaled just 20 receptions for 239 yards and two touchdowns through 10 games in Jacksonville last season. But if he can return to form, he could turn out to be the most valuable asset on the open market.
