The Pittsburgh Steelers may not be done making big moves after all.
The Pittsburgh Steelers had yet another very active offseason under general manager Omar Khan, acquiring several key players on both sides of the ball. However, ESPN insider Dan Graziano thinks they may have one last move up their sleeve.
Graziano believes the Steelers would be very much in play for Miami Dolphins five-time first-team All-Pro and eight-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Tyreek Hill if trade talks were to heat up.
“The Steelers could have one more move in them, and I’d be willing to bet they’d at least have a conversation on Tyreek Hill if Miami engaged,” Graziano said. “Curtis Samuel is also a healthy scratch in Buffalo despite making $7.4 million this season.”
Graziano’s statement contradicts a report from about a week ago that Pittsburgh is no longer interested in trading for Hill because of the ongoing NFL investigation into allegations of domestic abuse.
“My understanding is the Steelers were [interested in trading for Hill], but they’re not anymore because Mike Tomlin is concerned about what happens with this personal conduct policy investigation,” Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk said on PFT Live on Thursday.
Hill could be placed on the commissioner’s exempt list if the league finds credible evidence that a violation of the domestic violence policy occurred. Violations involving assault or battery are punished by a mandatory minimum six-game suspension.
However, there’s no denying the Steelers’ need for another wide receiver opposite DK Metcalf in their offense. Though Hill is only 5-foot-10, he has established himself as one the most dangerous receivers in the NFL, earning eight Pro Bowl nods and five All-Pro selections.
The 31-year-old is coming off his first sub-1,000-yard season since 2019, catching 81 passes for 959 yards and six touchdowns, but he is off to a strong start this year with 15 catches for 198 yards and a touchdown through the first three weeks of the season.
Despite Hill’s best efforts on the field, the Dolphins are still winless, and if that continues, the team could look to part ways with him.
A fifth-round pick by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2016, Hill has recorded 813 catches for 11,296 yards and 83 touchdowns in his 10-year NFL career.
