PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin revealed during his Tuesday press conference that inside linebacker Patrick Queen is dealing with an oblique injury.
Queen suffered the oblique injury in the second quarter of Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks. Queen was evaluated in the blue medical tent and was listed as questionable before returning.
Queen was a full participant at practice on Wednesday, so it appears the veteran linebacker will be good to go on Sunday against the New England Patriots.
Tomlin tabbed Queen (oblique) and cornerback Darius Slay (shoulder)as probable for Sunday’s game, while defensive lineman Derrick Harmon (knee), strong safety DeShon Elliott (knee) and cornerback Joey Porter Jr. (hamstring) are “questionable at best.” Harmon, Elliott and Porter were out in Week 2 against the Seattle Seahawks.
Harmon was limited at Wednesday’s practice, while Elliott, Porter and Slay did not practice. Slay had a vets day off.
Former Steelers offensive lineman Trai Essex wants to see more out of Patrick Queen. He believes the former LSU product hasn’t lived up to his three-year, $41 million contract that he signed in March of 2024.
“I have my eye(s) on Patrick Queen this week. He signed with the Steelers last year for big money. I don’t think we’ve gotten our money’s worth yet,” Essex said on The Snap Count podcast after the Jets game.
Queen had a better game on Sunday against Seattle, but it’s still not to the standard that the Steelers expect.
