UNITY TWP., Pa. — Add two more defensive linemen to the injured list for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Head coach Mike Tomlin announced that two more defensive linemen suffered injuries at practice on Wednesday and were unable to go on Thursday, with defensive linemen Dean Lowry and Jacob Slade both missing practice.

Tomlin had previously announced that defensive lineman Esezi Otomewo had also suffered a knee injury on Wednesday. None of the three participated in Thursday’s work.

Tomlin said that both Lowry and Slade are still being evaluated, and do not have a diagnosis or timeframe for return.

“I’ll have more information on some of those guys and others a little bit later,” Tomlin said.

The injuries to the three defensive linemen — and a veteran off day for Cam Heyward — left the Steelers thin at the position for practice on Thursday. They had just 10 healthy defensive linemen for the practice, so outside linebackers DeMarvin Leal and Jack Sawyer each took some reps inside at times to help with the depth.

Lowry is in his second season with the Steelers after joining the club as a free agent in 2024. He appeared in 12 games last year and made one start, recording five tackles, one quarterback hit and one pass defended.

Slade is also in his second year in Pittsburgh. The Michigan State product joined the team in 2024 after spending time with the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent in 2023. He spent all of last season on the Steelers’ practice squad, without appearing in a game.

Otomewo, 26, is in his first season with the Steelers. He signed with the team early this offseason after spending the last two seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

With their numbers at the position dwindling, the Steelers head tryouts back at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on Thursday, including former Seattle Seahawks fourth-round draft pick, Cameron Young.
