It just goes from bad to worse for Anthony Richardson.
It goes without saying that this is a critical year for the Colts’ incumbent 3rd- year starting quarterback.
Following two seasons of unrest for Richardson in Indianapolis, his third year could truly set him apart. It is off to a terrible start.
The team announced Thursday that Richardson will miss the team’s minicamp as he deals with a shoulder injury.
Colts HC Shane Steichen said QB Anthony Richardson is dealing with a shoulder injury and will not participate in mini-camp next week.

While missing minicamp might not sound like a big deal, the quarterback dealing with yet another injury is concerning.
Anthony Richardson is competing with former New York Giants starter Daniel Jones for the role of the Colts’ QB1 heading into his third season. After missing all but four games of his rookie season due to injury, Richardson was intermittently benched during the 2024 campaign.
The Indianapolis Colts quarterback led the team to a 6-5 record while throwing more interceptions than touchdowns and completing 47.7 percent of his passes for 1,814 passing yards.
The only hope that he has is that Jones, who was released by the Giants during his sixth season with the franchise, also struggled during the 2024 campaign.
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson is dealing with a shoulder injury and won’t participate in the team’s minicamp next week, head coach Shane Steichen announced.
Richardson’s injury will give a golden opportunity to Daniel Jones, whom the team signed in March.
Richardson played just four games in 2023 before his injury, then had mixed results last season as the team went 8-9. He has not turned out to be the quarterback they thought he would be when they drafted him.
Should he not show improvement in 2025, his time in Indy could be coming to an end.
