When you’re on top, as the Indianapolis Colts are, players want to join your team. We’ve already seen some signs of that when two-time Pro Bowl pass-rusher Shaquil Barrett worked out with the team earlier this week. Yet, Barrett must not have been what the Colts were seeking, as they chose not to sign the 32-year-old.
Yet, with the NFL trade deadline rapidly approaching on Nov. 4, teams are starting to piece together their wish list. NFL insiders have too, and recently the Colts have been linked to a superstar pass-rusher.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler and Matt Bowen put together a list of the best players who could get traded in the NFL this season. Atop the list was Cincinnati Bengals pass-rusher Trey Hendrickson. According to the NFL insiders, the Colts are one of three teams mentioned as a potential fit. The San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles were the other two teams linked to the one-time All-Pro.
Even though the 30-year-old is only signed through the rest of the season, the Bengals have so far taken a hard stance on not trading anyone.
Hendrickson led the NFL with 17.5 sacks last season, but the Bengals moved on from their defensive coordinator after an overall lackluster effort. However, Lou Anarumo is now coordinating the Colts’ defense, so Indianapolis could be an ideal fit for the four-time Pro Bowler.
