Everyone knows what happened last night.
Khmazat Chimaev dragged the UFC Middleweight Title away from the champ, the Arizona Diamondbacks lost to the worst team in baseball, and there was an NFL game played in Denver.
Oh, you weren’t paying attention to that? Well that is probably a good thing because the Arizona Cardinals were beaten down by the Denver Broncos in their second preseason matchup when the starters for both teams were on the sidelines last night.
While most, myself included, don’t worry too much about preseason results, there were a couple of statistical situations from last night that at least have to be looked at.
First, the Arizona Cardinals were outgained 562 yards to 135 yards. No matter if this is preseason, high school, Pee Wee, that is an absurd difference.
The Cardinals did have an explanation:
Gannon letting that out there is a way to make sure people know it wasn’t Nick Rallis calling things, but also being coy enough to not throw whoever was calling the defense under the bus.
The other thing is this…
Clayton Tune has come to the end of his experience with the Arizona Cardinals. He is just not taking the next step and at this point is hurting the chances of his teammates to get proper film during preseason with his inability to make plays.
The backend of the roster and those that will be cut soon did not produce in their opportunities on Saturday night. They have one more chance, and it cannot look like it did against the Broncos.
