PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Cole Holcomb will not suit up for the third straight week while dealing with an undisclosed illness, the team announced on Friday.

Holcomb first missed practice on Thursday, Oct. 30, while dealing with the illness, one that apparently also impacted Steelers safety Chuck Clark. Both Holcomb and Clark were ruled out of the team’s Week 9 game against the Indianapolis Colts. Clark returned in Week 10 against the Los Angeles Chargers.

When asked about having an illness run through the team, Tomlin said this was the worst situation he could remember since the COVID-19 pandemic, but did not divulge the nature of the illness.

Clark was a full participant in practice all week and is set to return against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 10. Holcomb did not practice on Wednesday, was limited on Thursday and then did not practice on Friday this week. He did not practice at all the two previous weeks.

Malik Harrison will once again replace Holcomb as the team’s No. 3 inside linebacker behind Patrick Queen and Payton Wilson, with rookie Carson Bruener providing additional depth.
