The Super Bowl LIX halftime show starring Kendrick Lamar broke the all-time viewership record.

Lamar made history as the first solo rapper to headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show and, brought in 133.5 million viewers live during the event, and has since amassed over 38 million views on YouTube and other social media.

His performance, despite how many people felt, got more eyes than last year’s headliner, Usher, who had 129.3 million viewers, and Rihanna’s 121 million in 2023.

Kendrick Lamar did so well that he also surpassed Michael Jackson’s famous 1993 Halftime show, which had a record of 133.4 million viewers.

That is just incredible news. Unfortunately, not everybody is buying it.

“I was at the game when Michael performed. It was spectacular! No one left their seats during the halftime. This year, we had a watch party. Everyone went to the dining room for eats. Boring & everyone kept saying they couldn’t understand what he was saying,” another fan stated.

“People heard it was going to be patriotic and family-friendly. They all tuned in, but it wasn’t because of a mediocre rapper no one could understand. I’ll still take MJ or Bruno Mars Up-Town Funk any day,” a third fan added.
