The New Orleans Saints are looking to make it back-to-back wins after defeating the New York Giants, and a visit from the New England Patriots is next up. Here’s what either result will mean for Kellen Moore’s team.
A victory here would be an impressive one and open the door to the Saints getting to .500 before the season’s end. The Patriots are coming off an upset win against the Buffalo Bills, whom the Saints themselves recently gave a scare, and for the black and gold to turn around and return the favor to New England would certainly raise some eyebrows.
Spencer Rattler is one of many Saints players who have strung together two strong performances since the Week 3 beatdown at the hands of the Seahawks, and New Orleans will be in with a chance in this one if such showings continue.
The defense will have to get after Drake Maye and the Pats just as they did to Jaxson Dart and New York. If they can continue to force turnovers and the offense is able to find the end zone, consider the Saints more than capable of making it two wins in a row and taking real momentum with them into Chicago for Week 7.
A defeat here would leave the Saints at 1-5 and, all things considered, rather disappointed. The performances to date have merited more than a single victory, and leaving the Caesars Superdome on Sunday in such a position would significantly limit what this scrappy, under-the-radar group will be able to accomplish this season.
While the Pats boast a real threat and enter the game as road favorites, no one expects them to walk all over New Orleans. Should they do so, the winners’ high currently reverberating through the Big Easy will be replaced by the tough reality of what would certainly look to be a losing season.
