The New Orleans Saints are back home in the Caesars Superdome when the New York Giants pay a visit to the Big Easy on Sunday. Here’s a look at what either outcome would mean for the black and gold in their Week 5 matchup.
A home win in the Dome would mark the first of the season for the Saints, and it would prove that the team can still be more than a bottom-feeder in the NFL in 2025.
They’ve had a chance to win every game this season – barring Week 3 in Seattle – and that includes matchups with playoff-likely opposition.
But here, the Saints can aim higher than looking to stay in the game. A home tilt against the Giants is deemed a relatively even fight. A win would mean the black and gold piecing together the positives from their defeats to put a full 60-minute game together and finally grab their first win of the campaign.
With divisional matchups on the horizon, now would be the perfect time to get it.
A loss on Sunday would be a defining point in the black and gold’s season. While optimism still exists for many, particularly in the wake of the Bills game, a home defeat to New York might just kill that off.
Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart found an impressive win against the Los Angeles Chargers in his first professional start last week, but this point remains: it’s a first road start for a rookie quarterback on a bad 1-3 Giants team. It’s as winnable a game as the Saints have all season, and a loss would leave plenty looking ahead to the 2026 NFL draft.
