Before we completely shut the door on the Dallas Cowboys offseason to start focusing on the 2025 NFL regular-season, we wanted to take a look back at the moves they made in an attempt to upgrade the roster this year. They were little more aggressive in free agency than they were a year ago and were definitely more trade happy. Today, we identify the best free agent signing, trade, draft pick, and undrafted free agent they added because most, if not all of them, are expected to play prominent roles for the Cowboys this season.
RB Javonte Williams
The fact the Cowboys decided to sit Williams the entire preseason tells you all you need to know about their expectations for him in 2025. Even though the RB position battle never really heated up as we expected, Williams still clearly sits atop the RB depth chart heading into the 2025 NFL season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles. Although, Jaydon Blue could overtake him at some point this year, of all of the new faces Dallas added via free agency this year, he’s arguably just about the only one who is expected to play a starting role, with the exception of maybe LB Jack Sanborn.
WR George Pickens
The Cowboys got a little trade happy this offseason adding WR George Pickens, CB Kaiir Elam, LB Kenneth Murray Jr., and QB Joe Milton, all of which are expected to play prominent roles in some capacity this season. Identifying the best of the bunch is pretty easy. Nearly everybody is highly anticipating Pickens making his debut with the Cowboys. He has been continuously making jaw-dropping plays throughout the offseason since arriving in Dallas and has already developed a really good rapport with his new QB, Dak Prescott. The duo of him and CeeDee Lamb has the chance to be one of the most WR lethal pairing in the entire league.
DE Donovan Ezeiruaku
If the way they’ve played in training camp and preseason is any indication, the Cowboys look to have a really good 2025 rookie draft class. Of the group, Tyler Booker and Donovan Ezeiruaku have without a doubt stood out the most, which is to be expected as Dallas’ top two draft picks. We could go with either one here as the best draft pick this year, but we give the edge to Ezeiruaku. He’s been really impressive since arriving in Dallas and looks to be more of a complete player than expected. He’s been most impressive as a pass rusher, but has also shown the ability to hold up in the running game as well. Big things could be in store for him in 2025.
CB Zion Childress
Wide receiver Traeshon Holden has had a really good offseason with the Cowboys, quickly becoming a fan favorite, and safety of Alijah Clark has turned some heads as well. But, Zion Childress looks to be the best of the undrafted...
