Whether you’re headed out on a night of debauchery or just want an evening with the boys, everyone has their own part to play. Maybe you’re the funny guy; maybe you’re the gregarious type that turns a small hang into a group event.
No matter who you are, you play an essential role in keeping the night going and the people happy. However, if you’re looking for someone to add to your crew, one user on TikTok recently sparked discussion with his recommendation: a “Ryan Fitzpatrick.” But what does that mean?
In TikTok user Nicky’s video, which currently has over 57,000 views, he says that adding a “Ryan Fitzpatrick” to a friend group is essential.
“There is nothing better than having a Ryan Fitzpatrick in your friend group,” Nicky (@nickysmokes) states. “You know, the guy that’s almost 40. He’s been in the league for 20 years. You would think he has a ring by now and he’s ready to retire, but he’s not. He’s just hopping from bar to bar like Ryan Fitzpatrick hopped from team to team.”
The reasons for having such a character, Nicky says, are many. First, they have experience. Second, they take chances. Third, they do not fear rejection. Finally, as Nicky puts it, “He loves the game.”
“There’s nowhere else he’d rather be than out there on the field with his men, ready to go to battle,” Nicky summarizes.
Nicky closes by reiterating that every crew should at the very least consider adopting an “unc.”
“If you do not have a Ryan Fitzpatrick in your friend group, you are missing out, brother, because that man is a leader,” he shares. “That man is the culture. That man will lead you through battle.”
If you read the past few paragraphs wondering who Ryan Fitzpatrick is, well, you probably haven’t watched football for a while.
That’s because Fitzpatrick was a solid player for a long, long time. How long? Try 17 seasons before announcing his retirement in 2022.
During that time, he had some pretty major accomplishments. He played at least one game across nine different NFL teams. He was the first NFL quarterback to throw for over 400 yards in three consecutive games. He also has the most career passing yards and touchdowns of any NFL quarterback without a post-season appearance.
