Popular MTV reporter Nessa Diab backed up Nicki Minaj while ripping on Jay-Z and Roc Nation in a scathing rant, comparing their “smear campaign” against the Queen of Rap to what Colin Kaepernick went through.
In a recent Instagram story post, Nessa revealed that she and Colin Kaepernick got married, referring to herself as “his wife.” Nessa announced their marriage in a video where she went up to bat for Nicki Minaj, who’s in the midst of a public feud with Jay-Z, Roc Nation, Megan Thee Stallion and Desiree Perez.
Back in 2019, the legendary rapper and Roc Nation announced a working partnership with the NFL. Jay-Z drew criticism when he said, “I think we’ve moved past kneeling. I think it’s time for action,” about the protests by Kaepernick and multiple NFL players.
In the aforementioned Instagram post, Nessa backed Minaj and compared her situation to what Colin Kaepernick went through.
“Sadly, I knew it wasn’t even a question, because I saw it happen to Colin. And I called this out years ago. That’s why, sadly, I’m re-addressing everything over. But again, do your research, go back to the timeline. It’s all there.
And the worst part…were the smear campaigns that were happening behind the scenes to try to discredit Colin publicly. To sway people to think that Colin was okay being blackballed.”

Nessa and Kaepernick, who last played in the NFL in 2016, have been in a relationship since 2015 and had their first child together in August 2022.
Kaepernick spent his entire NFL playing career with the San Francisco 49ers (2011 to 2016), leading them to two NFC Championship Games and a Super Bowl 47 appearance.
In 2017, Kaepernick filed a lawsuit against the NFL, alleging that team owners were colluding to keep him out of the league because of his protests during the national anthem. In 2019, the two sides reached a settlement.
