Team bonding is vital for each and every team in the NFL, and Bill Belichick took that very seriously during his time as head coach of the New England Patriots.
Plus, it turns out he even got involved in the activities.
“There was times where we went paintballing as a team. I thought it was pretty cool because Bill actually did it too,” former Patriots running back Sony Michel said on Up & Adams with Kay Adams. “So, everybody made sure they went after him. And he knew it. So, he was hiding behind the little floaty balloon thing. Trying to hide from players because players knew that that was their chance to get Bill back.”
And with that, Adams asked a very important follow-up question: “Did you hit Bill Belichick with a paintball?”
“No, I didn’t. I didn’t because at the time, I actually didn’t participate,” Michel said. “I spectated. And I actually liked the view that I had because I was able to see the whole thing in action and see guys attack him. They had a whole plan. They were sending guys to the right, sending guys to the left.”
Michel added that the players were split into five different teams, while Belichick was on a team of his own. And each team would ultimately get to face each other, so everyone got an opportunity against their head coach.
“Every team that got to go against Coach, they already knew who they were going after,” Michel added.
Michel might not have gotten the chance to hit Bill with a paintball, but the real question is, which players did?
