How the Seahawks’ playoff probability shifts vs. Titans
Field Gulls Field Gulls

Have you digested last Sunday’s Seattle Seahawks loss to the Los Angeles Rams yet? Properly processed the fact that despite an ugly game from our new QB1, we are still in control our own destiny? Especially if you consider that we have one more game against the loathsome Rams, and their schedule becomes much harder from here on out while ours somewhat eases, our beloved ‘Hawks still have an opportunity to take the NFC West. On top of all that, a win on Sunday in Tennessee places our chance of making the playoffs at a wonderfully predictive 91%.

A loss to the less-than Tennessee Titans oscillates Seattle’s playoff odds a not insubstantial 18%, with room to maneuver, but far from a guarantee. There is certainly something at stake this weekend, and a loss drops their chances below the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who own the head-to-head tiebreaker between our club and theirs (obviously). If both teams win the day, Seattle moves one step closer to playing in the 2025 postseason.

Despite possible frustrations with an aspect or two of the Seahawks squad, Seattle seems to be a relatively stable organization in a relatively stable position. Take a look at the leverage for the 49ers and that team that pretends they are in Kansas anymore, you can’t help but count our blessings. San Francisco is sitting on a 27% swing in playoff odds, while the defending AFC Champs are sitting on a hefty 33% teeter-totter. Must win for Kansas City, wouldn’t you say?

Anywho, as it comes to pass, and as the numbers suggest, the Seahawks need to win this weekend to stay ahead of the Buccaneers and 49ers, and to keep pace with the Rams. Tennessee is a vulnerable, wounded animal that is begging to be put to pasture. Let us do them a favor. Our odds of making the playoffs seem fair, but we shan’t leave it to the numbers. We must take it to the schedule, devour our opponents, and leave no doubt that we are a young, up-and-coming team that refuses to be trifled with. Time will tell, and I am excited to watch the outcomes unfold.

Go, ‘Hawks!
