The New England Patriots have a mix of veterans and young talent in their wide receiver room.
The additions of Stefon Diggs and Kyle Williams have completely transformed this group, with the veteran immediately becoming the most explosive and experienced option. At the same time, the rookie has a claim at the highest ceiling of anyone in this group, giving returning veteran DeMario Douglas excitement for the upcoming season.
“I love ’em. I feel like they’ve brought everything to the room,” Douglas said after Tuesday’s OTAs practice, according to MassLive’s Mark Daniels. “Straight competition in our room, and I love it.
“Every position, we got competition. So, those two, the four rookies that came in, they’re pushing us to get better. So, as we got people coming in who work hard, that’s going to push everyone else to work harder.”
Along with the trio that will most likely be the starters, the Patriots have Kendrick Bourne, Mack Hollins, Kayshon Boutte, Ja’Lynn Polk, Javon Baker, JaQuae Jackson, and John Jiles in the mix, fighting for roster spots.
Douglas will continue to be himself, so he’ll be a good slot option for New England. Polk and Baker will compete in camp to survive on this roster, as Bourne and Hollins currently sit ahead of them in terms of having a chance to break camp with New England.
