The New England Patriots have a talented quarterback behind center and they now have an experienced head coach on the sideline.

But even with that in place, a return to the Super Bowl still seems far, far away for the Patriots.

That at least is how oddsmakers see it. In the immediate aftermath of the Philadelphia Eagles’ beatdown of the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night, sportsbooks released the odds for every NFL team to win Super Bowl LX next year.

It wasn’t a surprise that two sportsbooks had the Patriots near the bottom of the list to take a trip to Levi’s Stadium. The Patriots had the fourth-longest odds at +15000 by FanDuel Sportsbook — only the Tennessee Titans, Las Vegas Raiders and New York Giants had greater odds — while BetMGM gave the Patriots a slightly better chance to win the Super Bowl at +12500.

FanDuel had the Chiefs (+600) as the favorite to lift up the Lombardi Trophy in 2025 while BetMGM made the Eagles (+650) the favorite to repeat.

New England appears to be in better shape heading into next season than they did in 2024. Mike Vrabel is an upgrade at the coaching spot over Jerod Mayo while 22-year-old quarterback Drake Maye, who completed 66.6% of his passes for 2,276 yards with 15 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while rushing for 421 yards and two more scores as a rookie, showed plenty of promise.

But the Patriots really shouldn’t be eyeing the Super Bowl yet as they try to rebuild following a second consecutive 4-13 season. Just making the playoffs, a place the Patriots haven’t been since 2021, is a more realistic objective in Vrabel’s first season at the helm.
