With fans excited for the New York Giants’ upcoming season, it is due to a myriad of reasons, one of them being to see how quarterback Jaxson Dart improves after a standout rookie year. As the Giants are now led by head coach John Harbaugh, he would give his first impressions of Dart so far this offseason.

Speaking to the media in the lead-up to training camp, Harbaugh would be asked about Dart and his transition into the new offense, as offensive coordinator Matt Nagy leads the unit. Harbaugh would share how impressed he is so far with the Ole Miss product.

“I think he’s adjusting really well,” Harbaugh said, according to Charlotte Carroll of The Athletic. “He looks good. I love his competitiveness. He wants to be perfect every play. It’s a work in progress all the time.”

Last season for New York, Dart threw for 2,272 yards to go along with 15 touchdowns and five interceptions, as he was selected with the 25th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. He gave the team new energy when announced as the starting quarterback, playing 14 games last season, and while the team struggled, fans had optimism with Dart under center for the future.

More on the Giants and Jaxson Dart

There is some optimism when it comes to the Giants ahead of the 2026 season, as besides Dart, Harbaugh and Nagy being on the team could help the 23-year-0ld improve. Also having former Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan on the offensive staff, Dart is no doubt well-equipped to take a step above in year two, with the hope that star wide receiver Malik Nabers will be ready to go for Week 1.

Besides Nabers, New York’s receiver room also has veteran Odell Beckham Jr., Calvin Austin III, Braxton Berrios, rookie Malachi Fields, and others. To go along with a backfield that includes Cam Skattebo and Devin Singletary, plus an improved offensive line, there is hope surrounding the Giants.

The team is looking to improve after finishing with a 4-13 record, as Week 1 starts on Sunday, Sept. 13, against the Dallas Cowboys.
