Houston Texans star safety Jimmie Ward was arrested on Thursday, public records show.

Back on June 12, police in Montgomery County, Texas, arrested Jimmie Ward on a family violence charge. The alleged victim claimed that Ward threatened, strangled and assaulted her.

On Thursday evening, several reporters on X/Twitter found a public record stating that Ward was also arrested earlier today in Magnolia, Texas. According to the report, Ward was arrested just after 5:00 p.m. local time.

As of 9:45 p.m. EST, there has been no comment from Jimmie Ward, his camp nor the Houston Texans organization.

With one year left on his contract heading into 2024, Ward was handed a one-year extension through the 2025 season. The 2014 first-round pick spent his first nine seasons with the San Francisco 49ers.

Over his first 11 NFL seasons, Ward has 10 interceptions, 51 pass breakups, six forced fumbles, three sacks and 549 fumbles. In nine career postseason games, Ward has an interception and four pass defenses.

Texans Have A Decision To Make With Jimmie Ward

As we’ve seen time and time again in the NFL, one legal incident and/or arrest isn’t usually severe enough for a team to cut a player. But with Ward getting arrested twice in a two-month period, the Texans need to decide if it’s worth keeping the 34-year-old.
