Nearly four years after he played his last NFL snap, former Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Damon Arnette is getting a second chance.
According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston, the Houston Texans have signed Damon Arnette after bringing him in for a workout. Arnette spent the 2024 season with the Houston Roughnecks of the United Football League.
After starring for the Ohio State Buckeyes, Arnette was drafted 19th overall by the Raiders in 2020. Arnette was the Raiders’ second selection that year, after the club took Alabama wide receiver Henry Ruggs III at No. 12 overall.
Damon Arnette’s tenure with the Raiders last just 13 games, however. He recorded three pass breakups, no interceptions and 29 combined tackles before multiple off-the-field issues prompted the Raiders to cut him during the 2021 season.

The Raiders released Damon Arnette after a video surfaced of him brandishing a gun and making death threats to someone. Arnette had more run-ins with the law following his release, including an arrest in Jan. 2024 for possession of drugs and a firearm in Richardson, Texas.
After his release from the Raiders, Arnette was added to the Miami Dolphins’ practice squad. The Kansas City Chiefs signed him after the 2021 regular season, only to release him following an arrest for assault with a deadly weapon.
Following a brief stint in the UFL, Arnette is back in the NFL.
Per Wilson, Damon Arnette claims to be a changed man thanks to his faith and ample support from his loved ones. Arnette is now a father of three young kids and worked with attorney Daniel Moskowitz to get his life back on track.
