What is going on with CJ Stroud?
Texans coach DeMeco Ryans said Tuesday he has “no concerns” about Stroud’s limited throwing during spring practices due to “general soreness” in his shoulder.
The Texans opened OTAs on May 28, and Stroud hasn’t thrown passes during any of the media’s watching periods. The most Stroud has done with the starting offense is execute handoffs to running backs.
ESPN personality Trey Wingo is singing a different tune.
He took to social media on Tuesday and made it clear that fans should not believe the team. He says, “There should be concerns about CJ Stroud.”

Despite what he thinks, DeMeco Ryans isn’t worried about the progression of his quarterback.
“There’s no concerns with C.J.,” Ryans said following the Texans’ fifth OTA practice. “It’s just general soreness. We are taking extra precaution with him. He’ll be good to go. No concerns on my end.”
Shoulder issues are not new for Stroud.
In 2021, during his redshirt freshman year at Ohio State, the former Buckeye missed his team’s Week 4 meeting with Akron due to a shoulder injury.
CJ Stroud is coming off a season where he took a beating in the pocket as he was sacked 52 times, second most in the NFL.
Stroud finished his second season with 3,727 yards, a 63.2 completion percentage, 20 touchdowns, 12 interceptions, and an 87.0 passer rating.
Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud has not been throwing the football.
According to multiple reports Tuesday, Stroud is still not throwing at the Texans’ offseason organized team activities while he deals with a sore shoulder.
When Ryans was asked if Stroud would throw during the Texans’ mandatory minicamp next week, he said, “When he’s ready to go, he’ll be ready to go.”
