Houston Texans star running back Joe Mixon has a concerning injury that bears watching with training camp underway.

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Joe Mixon has been placed on the non-football injury list. The NFL insider added that Mixon wore a walking boot in the spring, but they expect him “to be OK fairly soon.”

Texans safety Jimmie Ward (foot) and tight end Brevin Jordan (knee) are also recovering from injuries and hope to be cleared before the regular season kicks off.

Star wide receiver Tank Dell was placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list and is expected to miss all of 2025 as he recovers from a horrific season-ending knee injury sustained in a Week 16 road game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

In Houston’s two playoff games, Mixon added 194 rushing yards, two rushing scores and 25 receiving yards. The Texans advanced all the way to the Divisional Round, where they fell to Patrick Mahomes’ Chiefs.

For his career, the 28-year-old Joe Mixon has 7,428 rushing yards, 60 touchdowns and 319 receptions for 2,448 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Joe Mixon & Texans Open 2025 Season At Los Angeles Rams

Mixon and the Texans will begin their AFC South division title defense when they visit Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams in the season opener at SoFi Stadium on Sept. 7.

It’ll be a good early-season test for the Texans, who went 5-4 on the road last season.Stroud vs. Stafford should be entertaining theater, and it could very well be a preview of Super Bowl 60.
