Last year ESPN had the Denver Broncos over/under at just 5.5 games. This season? Their expectations went up significantly.
Good morning, Broncos Country.
Last year, ESPN and several other outlets had the Denver Broncos over/under total for wins at 5.5 games. The uncertainty of Bo Nix at quarterback and a roster inhibited by the dead cap hit from Russell Wilson were often given as two of the primary reasons most folks weren’t bullish about the orange and blue last season.
But if you are someone who likes to bet on sports, choosing the over on that one seemed like a virtual lock to win some easy money. After all, there wasn’t a time in Head Coach Sean Payton’s coaching career with the New Orleans Saints where he failed to win six games in a single season.
And wouldn’t you know it? The Broncos didn’t disappoint—securing 10 wins and their first playoff berth in nearly a decade—and proved a lot of doubters wrong in the process.
Due to last season’s success, expectations are much higher for our beloved Broncos heading into the 2025 season. This year, ESPN Bet kicked the Broncos’ total up a bit to 9.5 wins on the over/under (+105, -135) for their upcoming gridiron campaign. With a roster of talented and ascending players coupled with last year’s success, it only makes sense for the Broncos to get an uptick relative to expectations.
The Kansas City Chiefs’ mark is set at 11.5 wins, while the Los Angeles Chargers are next in line with 10.5 wins. Sitting at the bottom of the AFC West are the Las Vegas Raiders, whose over/under has been set at 5.5 wins in 2025—though I’d expect them to be a bit more competitive than that given the hiring of Pete Carroll and several of the additions they have made over the course of the offseason.
What do you think, Broncos Country? Do you expect the Broncos to win 10 games again in 2025? Sound off in the comments section and let me know! Count me in as one who thinks they will. While every season is different and poses unique scenarios, I don’t see the Broncos doing worse than last season barring some sort of catastrophe. They’ve added a lot of talent this offseason and still have the 2025 NFL Draft to bolster their roster.
