Horse Tracks: The offensive starters need to lock in
Mile High Report Mile High Report

The Broncos have been given a ton of hype so far this offseason and into the beginning of training camp. Having that held up against the performance of the starters in their first preseason game has many of us in Broncos Country scratching our heads.

I try not to knee-jerk quite too much during the preseason. I also don’t take the hype from our local media too seriously. Instead, I like to wait until we get to see more of the team play.

In today’s NFL, that means week 1 in all honesty. Teams just don’t play the starters very much in the shortened preseason nowadays.

Nevertheless, I think we should all expect better execution this Saturday from the starters on both offense and defense.

Specifically, I want to see more from our offensive line. Last season they got a pass because of how woeful our running back roster was. I didn’t see a ton of running lanes opened up last week. I also didn’t see them successful in holding their blocks long enough. For this offense to hum, the offensive line is going to need to lock in.
