Do the Denver Broncos think Nik Bonitto is worth $20M per year?
Rumor has it that Nik Bonitto and the Broncos are working on an extension, and according to Chris Tomasson, the asking price may be starting at $20M per year.
According to overthecap.com’s position data, that would put him around the 12th or 13th highest salary for an edge rusher in the league.
On one hand, his spectacular year is just one season of superb play after a good year in 2024.
But on the other hand, this is a young player who is still getting better and absolutely earned All-Pro honors last season.
Locking up our excellent young players is something that I don’t think the Broncos have been great at. Justin Simmons, for instance, could have and should have been extended.
The only thing I wonder about is the feasibility of that money hitting this season. Good front offices can find ways to work these things out though and I think in Bonitto’s case, they should.
