Pittsburgh Steelers fans will finally get to see what Marquez Valdes-Scantling can do on Sunday. Mike Tomlin’s team elevated the eighth-year receiver to the active roster from the practice squad on Saturday, giving banged-up veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers another target when he takes on the Baltimore Ravens.

The Steelers signed Valdes-Scantling to their practice squad last month. The Green Bay Packers originally drafted him in the fifth round in 2018.

Valdes-Scantling played four years with Rodgers in Green Bay, setting career bests with 690 receiving yards and six touchdown grabs in 2020.

Before joining the Steelers, Valdes-Scantling spent time on the San Francisco 49ers’ practice squad. He appeared in five games with Kyle Shanahan’s team, posting four receptions for 40 yards. Valdes-Scantling has also had stints with the Kansas City Chiefs (2022-23), Buffalo Bills (2024) and New Orleans Saints (2024).

“I love MVS. I’ve always enjoyed playing with him,” Rodgers said before the Steelers signed his former teammate. “He’s one of my favorite teammates of all time. He is a really special guy, and I think MVS can still really play. You saw last year when he was in New Orleans, he had opportunities. He had a lot of big touchdowns. He could still run.”
