Are you ready for some (virtual) Pittsburgh Steelers football?
According to X account MUTLeaks, Cam Heyward, a 95 overall, is the Steelers’ highest-rated player on Madden 27, which releases worldwide on Aug. 13. This would mark the second year in a row with Heyward spearheading the black and gold’s video game charge, as he had the same grade on last year’s iteration, along with an X factor ability.
Heyward, 37, was a second-team Associated Press All-Pro last season after pinning up 78 total tackles, 3.5 sacks, a forced fumble and six passes defended.
Pittsburgh edge rusher T.J. Watt (93) and defensive back Jalen Ramsey (90) are the only other Steelers players listed within the top 100 players on the video game.
Ramsey drops down from being a 94 overall in last year’s game. Watt was the same.
Carolina Panthers defensive tackle Derrick Brown (96) is the only interior defensive lineman with a better overall than Heyward this time around.
Ex-Steelers guard Kevin Dotson, now with the Los Angeles Rams, was listed as 90 overall. New York Jets safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, who played for the Steelers from 2019-24, was tagged as an 89 overall. As was Dallas Cowboys wideout George Pickens, who spent the first three seasons of his career in black and gold before being traded and posting a 1,400-yard receiving season with the Dallas Cowboys.
Noted Steelers antagonist Myles Garrett was one of six players to earn 99 overall, along with Josh Allen, Matthew Stafford, Ja’Marr Chase, Trey McBride and Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
Other Steelers avatars to keep an eye on as Madden 27 nears its release are outside linebacker Alex Highsmith (87 overall last year), kicker Chris Boswell (86), receiver DK Metcalf (85), cornerback Joey Porter Jr. (85) and center Zach Frazier (85).
