The Boston Celtics astonished basketball enthusiasts by clinching the NBA Championship during the 2023-24 NBA season. The Celtics have had a strong start to the 2024-25 NBA season and currently hold an impressive position in the regular season standings. They are in 2nd place in the Eastern Conference with 32 wins and 14 losses. Amidst this success, Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie has shown interest in the Celtics. In a recent episode of his podcast, The Ringer, Bill Simmons reported that Lurie is considering purchasing the Boston Celtics.
“Four or five people made the first round. One of the people was the Eagles owner, Jeffrey Lurie, who is apparently from Massachusetts. There’s been a couple of, ‘Hmm, I wonder who these guys are?’ And there was a couple I couldn’t figure out. But that’s one that is in the mix.” Simmons said.

Lurie has owned the Philadelphia Eagles since 1994. On February 4, 2018, the Eagles triumphed over the New England Patriots to capture Super Bowl LII, securing a final score of 41–33. This remarkable victory marked Lurie’s inaugural championship as the team’s owner. Additionally, Simmons has shown his backing for Lurie by stating, “If he bought the Celtics, that’s a decent outcome.”
The Boston Celtics recently played the Dallas Mavericks in a thrilling matchup at the American Airlines Center. The Mavericks kicked things off with strong momentum, gaining a 4-point lead in the first quarter. However, the Celtics turned the game around spectacularly in the second quarter, dazzling fans with a remarkable 34-point performance.
The Celtics kept up their impressive play in the third quarter, showcasing their skill and teamwork. Though the Mavericks fought hard in the fourth quarter, they couldn’t quite catch up, falling short in the final moments.
Leading the charge for the Celtics, Jayson Tatum was phenomenal, scoring 24 points, along with 3 assists and 6 rebounds. Jaylen Brown was equally impressive, contributing 22 points, 6 assists, and 8 rebounds. Additionally, Derrick White significantly impacted with 23 points, 4 assists, and 5 rebounds. Thanks to these outstanding performances, the Celtics clinched the win with a final score of 122-107.
