Harrowing details and heroic actions emerged from the Park Avenue shooting on Monday, which was carried out by Shane Tamura.
Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a memo to employees that a National Football League employee was seriously injured in a shooting Monday at a midtown Manhattan building.
“One of our employees was seriously injured in this attack. He is currently in the hospital and in stable condition,” Goodell wrote in the memo.
The Athletic’s Dianna Russini dropped some damning information about that employee and what he did that may have saved lives.
Dianna Russini reported that Craig Clementi was the employee referenced by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in a memo sent after the shooting.
Clementi reportedly told other NFL employees to evacuate the building and stay safe. Shane Tamura shot him, but he survived.
“I just spoke with a high-ranking source in the NFL: Craig Clementi, an employee in the league’s finance department, was struck in the back by a bullet during Monday night’s shooting,” Russini wrote on X.

“There is a belief that the bullet may have ricocheted before hitting him.
“Remarkably, the man, who had recently welcomed a new baby, was on the phone with other NFL employees at the time, warning them to stay safe and evacuate the building. He continued to make calls even while he was taken to the hospital by ambulance, and Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a memo to league employees that their colleague is in stable condition.”
Goodell did not mention Clementi by name in his memo. Also, his statement revealed that there will be enhanced security protocols after the Park Avenue shooting in the coming days and weeks.
According to authorities, the 27-year-old shooter from Las Vegas had a history of mental health problems.
Tamura’s purported suicide note was discovered in his back pocket at the crime scene in New York City. He had issues with the NFL despite never playing football past high school.
He claimed to have CTE and wanted his brain studied after his death.
