The NFL trade deadline has come and gone, which means once again, my beloved New York Jets have managed to do all the right and wrong things simultaneously.
Pros: It was wise to abandon hope this season and make trades to get a huge haul of draft picks.
Cons: I will miss Sauce and Quinnen, and they should have traded more guys away if they’re serious about the rebuild.
Big picture: It won’t matter because this organization has given me no reason to believe that this rebuild will make a difference. Sauce and Quinnen were part of the last rebuild, along with other savvy draft picks that should have also been traded (Garrett Wilson, Breece Hall, Jermaine Johnson, etc.) Drafting was never the problem. We still don’t have a competent quarterback, they still don’t make smart coaching hires, and Woody Johnson is still hovering above it all with no clue what to do next. This is my life sentence.
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, Week 10 is shaping up to be another great slate of games. I could rest on my laurels going 9-4 and 9-5 the last two weeks, but I owe it to myself and all of you to do better.
