Jimmy and Dee Haslam own quite the empire in the sports world.
Tuesday morning, CNBC unveiled their list of the Top 20 most valuable sports ownership groups. Coming in at No. 1 on the list was the Kroenke Sports & Entertainment empire, which includes properties like the LA Rams, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, and Premier League’s Arsenal at $21.17 billion. The Jones family was next with the Dallas Cowboys, Legends, and The Star in Frisco at $15.53 billion.
On first glance at the list, you might think to yourself, “Surely the Cleveland Browns won’t be up there, right?” They actually are. The Haslam Sports Group came in at No. 17, with a value of $9.07 billion. Their notable sports properties include the Cleveland Browns, Columbus Crew, and Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks’ transaction occurred in 2023, with Haslam Sports Group reportedly purchasing 25% of the franchise. Some additional notes involving CNBC’s rankings are spelled out here.
The Haslams are currently trying to bolster the long-term value of the franchise with a new stadium and relocation to Brookpark, Ohio, although there is still a bit of red tape involved with that.
