The 2025 Indianapolis Colts are 3-0 and breaking offensive franchise records. A franchise that has been led by the likes of Johnny Unitas, Bert Jones, Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck is having a point scoring renaissance powered by former first round bust Daniel Jones. The Jones led Colts have scored 103 points through three games (the most since the Unitas Colts in 1967) and the entirety of the NFL world is asking how.
We could seek the answer to that question in a lot of ways. We could point to the completion of the offense with the addition of rookie tight end Tyler Warren. We could look at the design an implementation of Shane Steichen’s offensive scheme. We could look at Jonathan Taylor’s reemergence as the premier running back in the NFL, or the offensive line’s dominance up front. All of those things will be looked at, all of those things will be debated and discussed, and for good reason.
But what if the real answer is something else, something less tangible, something more ethereal? What if the answer is out of this world?
What if Jim Irsay himself, is calling the shots? Now that he’s on “the other side” what if he has access to a pool of Colts legends that he lost access to long ago? What if Jim is calling in favors from the spirits of Colts passed?
We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience -Jim Irsay
What if Jim Irsay is imparting his spiritual ability on the rest of us currently having a “human experience” and if he is who did Jim call on in week three against the Tennessee Titans?
Late in the third quarter with the game in hand, the Colts went to what Shane Steichen would later call after the game “old school smash mouth football” with the iso lead to Jonathan Taylor up the gut with Tyler Warren acting as the lead fullback on the play:
Taylor’s otherworldly run is reminiscent of someone Jim Irsay might have called on to put the final nail in the Titans coffin:
Lenny Moore
Lenny Moore played for the Colts from 1956 until 1967. Moore was a seven time pro bowler, five time all-pro and was elected into the NFL hall of fame in 1975. Moore was as good of a pass catcher as he was a runner, and oddly enough, Taylor is catching the ball better than he ever has before. But maybe more than anything else, Moore was known for his big play ability and today when the Colts needed to finish the game off with an “old school” run what if Jim Irsay sent the spirit of Lenny Moore to help Jonathan Taylor finish off a big play with maybe the greatest run of his career?
This week the Boss-Man sent Lenny Moore, what does he have up his sleeve next week? Johnny U? Weeb Ewbank? Jim Parker? Gino Marchetti? Don Shula?...
