Fox Sports analyst and former Pro Bowl tight end Greg Olsen broke his silence on his relationship with colleague Tom Brady.

After Joe Buck and Troy Aikman left Fox Sports for ESPN to cover ‘Monday Night Football’ in 2022, Greg Olsen and Kevin Burkhardt were promoted to the network’s top commentary team.

Olsen drew rave reviews for his in-game analysis and energy, and many fans were disappointed when Brady replaced him on the network’s top team last year. Brady began his 10-year, $375 million deal with Fox Sports last season, working with Burkhardt and sideline reporter Erin Andrews.

Greg Olsen’s demotion to the No. 2 team with Joe Davis has led to speculation about potential rift and animosity with Brady. But in an appearance on Barstool Sports’ “Pardon My Take” podcast, Olsen opened up on the strong relationship he has with the seven-time Super Bowl champion:

“We’ve hung out, personally. We talk on the phone, we keep in touch, he sent a cool video for my youth football team…we talk about raising teenage daughters, we’ve gone to play golf together, we hung out at the Bahamas at a little retreat. We’ve gotten to be very good friends on a very personal level since he’s joined Fox…

There’s this idea that there’s this personal animosity and competition. There’s not. My relationship with Tom and Fox and Joe Davis and Burkhardt and all my people at Fox couldn’t be better.

On the other parallel line to that, yes, I want to ascend in the industry, and I’m sure Joe Davis wants to call Super Bowls as well, that doesn’t mean he doesn’t like Burkhardt. Any motivated guy, you want to be the best at what you do. That is not a knock on the people that are ahead of you.”

Even though he was a rookie, Brady faced widespread criticism throughout his first year in the Fox Sports broadcast booth. If you did a simple search on X/Twitter during the regular season, you saw many fans voicing their displeasure with Brady replacing Olsen on Fox Sports’ top commentary team.

But Fox paid Brady top dollar for a reason. He’s the biggest name in NFL history. And no matter how he fares as a commentator, fans will always be interested to see his face on a weekly basis.

Greg Olsen Has Two Years Left On His Deal With Fox

Earlier this year, the former Carolina Panthers star revealed that he has two years remaining on his deal with Fox Sports. If he decides to explore other opportunities, Olsen would surely draw interest from rival networks.

Olsen wouldn’t get the No. 1 analyst gig, though. Tony Romo is locked in long-term at CBS. Cris Collinsworth recently signed an extension with NBC Sports. Aikman isn’t going anywhere. Kirk Herbstreit is flourishing at Amazon Prime Video and will likely stay there long-term, with or without Al Michaels.
