The time for the Green Bay Packers’ regular season finale on Sunday is now set, and they will take on the Minnesota Vikings at 12 Noon Central. That game means essentially nothing for either team, however, with the Packers locked into the #7 seed in the NFC playoffs and the Vikings eliminated from contention.
That should give the Packers a prime opportunity to manage some key players’ workloads, and in some cases to sit players who have been dealing with nagging injuries. Why play Josh Jacobs, for example, when he could barely make it through a few carries last Saturday night? Don’t bother rushing Jordan Love back, and even if he does complete the concussion protocol, there’s no reason to risk him for an extended period of time.
How exactly the team will approach its glut of injuries on Sunday remains to be seen, and it will surely depend on how practice goes this week. But don’t expect a lot of star power this weekend at U.S. Bank Stadium.
