Green Bay Packers fans would love nothing more on this Black Friday afternoon than to see their oldest rivals lose a big game. With the Packers set to host the Chicago Bears next Sunday in Week 14, a Bears loss today would set up a massive contest next week that would surely help define the balance of power in the division for the 2025 season’s home stretch.
Chicago has made a living by winning close games in ridiculous ways this season. In addition to having a negative point differential, the Bears have a whopping 6-1 record in games decided by 7 or fewer points, a generally unsustainable rate that should regress to the mean at some point. In fact, all of those close wins are by 5 points or less, with three of them separated by no more than two.
In their way today is another 8-3 team atop their own division, the Philadelphia Eagles. Philly had its own remarkable string of close-game luck early this season, starting out 7-1 in games separated by 7 or fewer points. They lost a second game last week to the Dallas Cowboys, however, and are sure to be looking for a better performance as they return home for today’s game.
