They’re heading into the locker rooms at U.S. Bank Stadium for halftime of the regular season finale, and your Minnesota Vikings lead the Green Bay Packers, 13-0.
Both teams exchanged punts early on in the quarter, with Ryan Wright putting the Green Bay offense at their own 30-yard line. Not a banner offensive effort from these teams in the early going.
Green Bay then managed to get the ball to near midfield, but Blake Cashman and Andrew Van Ginkel combined for a third down stop and the punting battle continued with the Vikings taking over near their own 10-yard line. The Vikings moved the ball down the field and J.J. McCarthy found Justin Jefferson for a 17-yard gain to put him over the 1,000-yard mark for the sixth straight season, making him one of just three players to start his NFL career with six straight seasons over that mark. McCarthy then found Jalen Nailor for 17 more down to the Green Bay 30, and they eventually found themselves with goal-to-go.
But, the offense stalled once again, and it was once again up to Will Reichard to put points on the scoreboard. He put the ball through the uprights from 25 yards out, and the Vikings extended their lead to 6-0 with just under three minutes left before halftime.
The Packers then went three-and-out, featuring a run of minus-19 yards from Emmanuel Wilson. Yes, minus-nineteen.
The Vikings then got the ball back with under two minutes to go and all three of their timeouts, and McCarthy found Jalen Nailor for a big gain to the 21-yard line and Ben Sims to the 3 to set up goal-to-go. Then, on 2nd-and-goal from the 1, Minnesota went HAM for what might be the last time.
The 1-yard run from C.J. Ham put the Vikings up 13-0 heading into the locker room at halftime. Green Bay will get the ball coming out of the locker room at halftime.
We’re halfway through the season finale, ladies and gentlemen, and your Minnesota Vikings are up by two scores on the Green Bay Packers, 13-0. Come on in and join us for the third quarter, won’t you?
