Kyle Shanahan reveals Brock Purdy will start 49ers’ Week 11 game vs. Cardinals
“That’s why we were really close to getting him up last week, but still thought it would help him for another week, and so did he,” Shanahan said. “The way he was Monday, just watching him film with him, the way he was at Wednesday’s practice. And really (today) was the best. We were going full speed and everything. So he’s good to go, and it’s good to get him back.”

Brian Robinson Jr. staying patient, ready for more opportunities with 49ers
“Robinson did not express any frustration with his role. He said he learned to be patient during his five seasons at Alabama, where he had to wait his turn behind such running backs as Damien Harris, Josh Jacobs and Najee Harris.”

Robert Saleh, Klay Kubiak, Brock Purdy preview 49ers-Cardinals Week 11 matchup
“”Like I said, it’s a young group and they’re eager to learn. They want to fix mistakes, but I thought practice today was outstanding. They’re in a good spot. Obviously, everyone has a bad taste in their mouth. Anytime you get 40 dropped on you, it’s not fun. But, we’ve got a good group of guys. They’ve played really good football before and we’ve had good games as a group, we’ve had bad games as a group and we’ve just got to find that consistency as we continue to go through the year.”

This was an issue in 2019 when defensive end Dee Ford’s knee tendinitis started acting up while the 49ers practiced on a synthetic surface at Youngstown State prior to their game in Cincinnati, which was also played on an artificial surface. The following year, a slew of 49ers, including Bosa and Solomon Thomas, went down with injuries on MetLife Stadium’s artificial field.

Finally, 49ers who have played in other cities say San Francisco’s training camp, as well as their Thursday practice during the season, are as vigorous as those of any team in the league. It isn’t so much the length of the session, they say, but the speed and intensity.

“It’s not about preservation here,” receiver Chris Conley said two years ago. “It’s about attacking.”

49ers’ Isaac Guerendo has rare size and speed. Why has he yet to touch the ball? (paywall)
“The 49ers added Robinson after Guerendo was their most prominent reserve running back to suffer an injury this summer. Jordan James had a broken finger and Patrick Taylor and Corey Kiner were placed on season-ending injured reserve.

“You have to make business moves at that point in order to go into the season with at least some firepower,” Guerendo said. “So we made the decision that we did to bring in Brian and he’s been a great addition to our room....
