Giants vs. Ravens: 3 reasons for optimism in Week 15

The New York Giants will host the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday with just four games left in the season.

The Giants, losers of eight straight games, have not won a game at home this year and are currently the largest underdogs of the NFL season.

With little to be excited about as the year winds down and just two wins so far, many fans are keeping a close eye on the Giants’ draft position.

Meanwhile, the Ravens enter Week 15 two games back from the AFC North division lead.

Here are three reasons for optimism ahead of Sunday’s matchup.

Tommy DeVito back under center

There is something about the local product that brings out the best in the team. Tommy DeVito put together an impressive string of games last season and both the team and fans rallied around the New Jersey native.

DeVito got just one start out of the bye week before he got injured and the Giants turned to Drew Lock. Although the constant change at the quarterback position may not be a good thing, having “Tommy Cutlets” under center gives the Giants something to get excited about given his unexpected success from a year ago.

Ravens pass defense

The Ravens are one of the best teams in the league against the run. However, they are on the opposite side of the spectrum when it comes to the passing game. In fact, the Ravens rank dead last in opponents passing yards per game.

Knowing the Giants are not going to be able to rely on the legs of Tyrone Tracy Jr., they may be able to open up the passing game and exploit one of the few weak units on the Ravens roster. The Giants should look to their star rookie receiver, Malik Nabers, early and often on Sunday.

An opportunity to score some points

The Giants’ offense has left plenty to be desired all season long. As good as the Ravens are, they are built off their offense and their defense ranks 24th in the league when it comes to points allowed per game.

In one of the bigger mismatches and the biggest spread of the NFL season, this game may give the Giants one of their better opportunities left on the schedule to score some points.
