The New York Giants are in their second week of training camp, and sessions have intensified since they began practicing in pads.

With new faces on the team acquired through free agency and the draft, you can sense an exciting energy surrounding the team as they prepare for the 2025 season.

So far, head coach Brian Daboll is impressed with what he’s seen from his team, but he knows it’s still early in training camp, and there’s a ton of work that needs to be done.

The Giants’ first preseason game isn’t until Aug. 9 against the Buffalo Bills, so let’s take a look at the players who have shined the most so far this summer.

Abdul Carter

No player has dazzled more in training camp than Abdul Carter. The third overall pick is playing at a different speed, which has impressed his teammates and coaching staff.

His acceleration and spin moves would have produced several sacks in a game situation, and he tossed center John Michael Schmitz Jr. to the ground like a rag doll. It’s safe to say that the former Penn State edge rusher is living up to the hype, and everyone is anxiously awaiting what he will do in game action.

It’s easy to see why he’s the favorite to win Defensive Rookie of the Year, as he has been by far the best player on defense during training camp.

Malik Nabers

Malik Nabers has picked up where he left off last season, making sensational catches all over the field. He’s been unguardable in practice, catching three touchdowns on the first day of training camp and quickly developing a rapport with Russell Wilson.

There was a minor scare when he left Tuesday’s practice to have his shoulder checked out, though everything was fine as he returned to the field Thursday making spectacular catches. Based on what we’ve seen this summer, the second-year wideout seems primed to make his first All-Pro team this season.

Russell Wilson

Much of New York’s success this season will rely on its 36-year-old quarterback. Wilson has looked sharp in training camp and has a firm command of the offense.

Wilson is not only connecting on deep passes to Nabers, but he’s also building connections with other receivers such as Darius Slayton, Wan’Dale Robinson, and Jalin Hyatt. The 10-time Pro Bowl quarterback has hit on deep passes throughout training camp and appears to be in midseason form.

Big plays from the passing game have been sorely missing from New York’s offense for the past several seasons, but it looks like they will return this season thanks to Wilson.

Beaux Collins

It seems like every summer, there’s an undrafted rookie who emerges and starts making plays on a continuous basis. This year, it has been receiver Beaux Collins from Notre Dame.

The 6-foot-3, 206-pound Collins is a physical receiver who has made an immediate impression with his teammates and coaches.
