A former tight end of the Pittsburgh Steelers could soon be on the move.
Former Pittsburgh Steelers tight end MyCole Pruitt had a tryout with the New York Giants on Monday, according to multiple reports.
Pruitt, 33, hasn’t been on a team since his contract with the Steelers expired at the end of the 2024 season.
During his one-year stint in Pittsburgh, he recorded six catches for 40 yards and a touchdown under offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, who he had previously played for on the Tennessee Titans and Atlanta Falcons.
Pruitt began his career as a fifth-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings, who he spent the first one and a half seasons of his career with before being released midway through the 2016 season.
He was then signed by the Chicago Bears, but he only registered one catch for six yards during the second half of the season. The Bears released him on Sep. 2, 2017.
It didn’t take long for Pruitt to earn another opportunity, though. Just two days later, the Buffalo Bills signed him to their practice squad.
He was released less than two weeks later and signed to the Houston Texans practice squad. However, an injury landed him on injured reserve, where he spent the rest of the season.
In 2018, Pruitt was signed by the Titans, who he finally established a role for himself with. During his four years in Tennessee, he racked up 34 receptions for 386 yards and seven touchdowns.
Pruitt then followed Smith to Atlanta, where he caught another 25 passes for 260 yards and five touchdowns from 2022-23. He reunited with Smith again in Pittsburgh in 2024.
A native of South Bend, Indiana, Pruitt played his collegiate career at Southern Illinois, where he had 211 receptions for 2,601 yards and 25 touchdowns from 2010-14.
