The New York Giants are signing a former running back of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The New York Giants are signing former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jonathan Ward following his workout with the team, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2.
Ward, 27, spent the 2024 season with the Steelers, jumping between the team’s practice squad and active roster for most of the year.
He appeared in four games and rushed for 22 yards on five carries (4.4 yards per carry).
Ward began his NFL career as an undrafted free agent in 2020. He went on to sign with the Arizona Cardinals, who he would play three seasons with.
The Cardinals then released Ward during the 2022 season and he signed to the New York Jets practice squad. However, that was short-lived as he was released less than a month later.
Ward then signed with the Tennessee Titans, where he also jumped between the practice squad and active roster from 2022-23.
He played his collegiate football at Central Michigan University. In four seasons, he rushed for 2,539 yards and 28 touchdowns on 473 carries. He also recorded 98 receptions for 909 yards and four more scores.
Ward will now compete with Giants running backs Tyron Tracy, Devin Singletary, Cam Skattebo and Eric Gray for a roster spot in New York.
